Loosely inspired by the director’s own memory of a girl’s disappearance from her village, the film follows Arlene, a young factory worker living alone in a rural Irish community.

paudie I saw this movie at the Cork Film Festival this month. The writer/director spoke before the screening and explained that the movie was based on her own experiences of grief. The movie is well made but it didn't really hold my attention. It is obviously a very personal film and my own life experiences didn't allow me to fully appreciate it.It is the story of a twenty something girl living in a small Irish town. Her mother was murdered in England when she was much younger and she has never recovered from this. She sleep walks and one morning she wakes to find herself in a wood lying next to the body of a murdered local girl.Because of the similarities with her mother's death she becomes obsessed with the girl and her family and her world starts to fall apart.Antonia Campbell Hughes is very good as the melancholy main character. However the movie was too slow moving for my liking.
