Reviews
MamaGravity good back-story, and good acting
SeeQuant Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
tiago-dc Perfect cast, perfect characters, unique tv show. Thank you.
jessica-jarvi My all time favorite show. I'm constantly noticing new things, and every single episode has me laughing out loud!
toonyjakes The Office is either a hit or miss kind of show, depending on who you are. If you're a person who finds slapstick-type comedy more appealing, watching one singular episode might bore you. But, if you're like me, and find yourself paying attention to detail, laughing at the little awkward moments in life, you'll see that this show has alot to offer.Plot- The whole show is filmed primarily inside a paper company run by an eccentric boss named Michael Scott (Carell) and eventually Andy Bernard (Helms). It seems at the first season it would have had some issues, being so identical to the British version whilst the characters aren't very developed as they should be yet. Once season 2 kicks in, you start noticing the idiosyncrasies of every character, and from then on it just gets funnier and funnier. Many episodes are shenanigans, but it is a straightforward plot that has many great and sometimes very emotional moments.Writing- Perfect. I dont know how they do it, it feels like it's improvised, yet its very smart and snappy. Sometimes missing one word can make or break a whole joke within the show, and alot of small conversations lead to bigger things later in the show. Acting/Characters- This show, for me, has nothing but likeable characters. The whole cast is fantastic in their own respect, playing each character as if they are really talking to you. There is probably one character, I think her name is Nell, who pops up and is a bit annoying and not very funny at first, but then settles in to be likeable.Quality- The editing is very snappy, the cinematography is perfectly on point for being filmed as a fictional documentary, often times zooming in at the right moment to reveal something about a character. The show never really is out of step with itself, aside meeting a couple new characters. Overall I've seen this show nearly 3 times now, front to back, and I still catch details that make me laugh as if I never seen the episodes. The office romances are great, with Pam and Jim being the main focus. You will laugh, you may definitely cry, and you will cringe. It may have one of the greatest finales to any show, as if it was one big movie throughout the years. Well worth your relaxation time.
Anshul Agrawal You start with Michael Scott. You immediately realise he is crazy. He has a weird sense of humour, he has no filter between his mouth and his brain, he is childish and the people around him have to care for him. In a sense, there is very little you like about him. But as the time passes, you realise that he has some things right to his credit. He understands the value of family, he considers his subordinates as genuine friends and there is heart in his banter. You slowly see the good side of him and realise that he is not that bad. You start to like him, find him funny sometimes. He makes mistakes, blunders even, but his heart is in the right place and his intentions are pure. And then one day you read this quote,"Do you hate your job? Yes. Do you hate your boss? Great! You are going to love this show". And you realise that it's right. You will love The Office. Hats off Michael Scott. There are other things too. The soundtrack is simply brilliant. It is heartwarming and nostalgic. You can cut it short, shorter and shortest and it would still hold its charm. The pranks that Jim plays on Dwight are mad. The songs played here and there bring out the best of The Office like the one welcoming new employees and the one with the commercial. The scripting on 'that's what she said' jokes and Crisis level:Midnight movies were distinctive and charming. But that is not to say that The Office had no bad moments. Sure the characters were funny. Some like Dwight Schrute may leave a distinct memory in the mind and could be immortalised. But The Office really shines when there is a plot. You see the true funny when there is a story and there are stakes involved. But these moments are few and scattered in between. This was especially felt in the latter seasons when it simply felt like they have run out of bad situations to create and so are now winging it. Also, take the example of FRIENDS. All 6 of these characters, not to mention the supporting actors, had a distinct personality and the series showed character development. A truly great series shows the characters evolving over a period of time so that people can see them struggle and become better. The Office had little of that. Even if you leave out the depth of the characters, there is also the sheer number of different personalities that could have been explored instead of simply leaving them as stereotypes. Overall, I felt that even though this show was good, it barely touched its true potential.
