Sarentrol Masterful Cinema
Rijndri Load of rubbish!!
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
sugoati The first movie? Great. This movie is incredibly obvious as nothing more than a showcase of 'halloween events' around the country until nearly the very end. Throughout the movie are more super obvious advertisements (looking at you, PBR) and the characters namedropping products. You can tell they really cashed out.
jaysarm Despite its shortcomings, I found a certain level of enjoyment in the first film. What it lacked, it made up for in effectively capturing the Halloween spirit. The concept of an October road trip with a group of friends looking to seek out the best/most extreme backwoods haunted houses made for a great premise. However, the sequel fails to deliver on the aspects that made the first film entertaining. The entire film comes off like someone's holiday travel vlog. The "haunts" they attend cover everything from a 5K run to a food eating contest, they mostly feel like filler. There is an attempt to incorporate drone footage but it's completely unnecessary and poorly implemented. I also question a lot of the editing, particularly near the end. Much of the burden falls on the plot, probably the weakest part of the entire film. While the first movie's plot was simple and worked as a one-off, the second film finds the same characters essentially re- hashing the first plot but with the temptation of profiting this time around. The lone female character, "Brandy" goes from being completely freaked out by briefly seeing the familiar blue skeleton mask on a man in one of the haunted houses, to perfectly fine with wandering into the abandoned site of "Hellbent." This is even after they were gassed and driven to the location unbeknownst to them. Like I originally stated, for me, its biggest failure is the lack of Halloween spirit. Without it, in my opinion, there's not much here to enjoy.
joey321978 But i could not agree more. It took me 3 days to watch this movie. I am pretty sure someone forgot to tell them to keep the people watching the movie, INTERESTED in watching the damn movie. At least blair witch 2 went off course when making their sequel. These morons basically put no creativity into the sequel they made what so ever. All they did was make a movie that won't, at least should not get a part 3
BayouBabylon Unlike a lot of horror fans, I liked the first The Houses October Built. I liked seeing the backwoods, indie haunts and I thought it was a creative idea to weave a plot into what was, basically, just a Haunted House Road Trip. This one just seems like a way for the filmmakers to get paid to go on another Haunted House road trip, only with a much more flimsy and boring plot.Unfortunately, the places they visit are even more boring than in the first film because of a very weak premise involving one of the main characters. The events look fun enough, but far from scary, even in person, much less on film.I gave this movie 4 stars because I like seeing indie haunts from across the country. Also, in general, I like the premise of seeking the extreme, or seeking forbidden knowledge, then being rewarded with more than you bargained for.
