Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
boblipton Farmer Al Falfa and the dog try to gt rid of the cat by drowning, dumping him on a freight train and throwing him out a window. However, nothing works in this decent Terrytoon.Farmer Al Falfa was Paul Terry's longest-running cartoon character, dating from 1915. However he had been missing in action for four years (with a cameo in THE HELICOPTER earlier in 1944). Why the absence? I've no idea. Why the return? Probably pure nostalgia on the boss' part. The result is a decent if predictable cartoon, as the cat in question torments and is tormented by Al and the dog, put together well by the staff in what is essentially a silent movie. Philip Scheib's score has a lot of scurrying violins to push the pace and the capper joke is very good.
Nell-3 I find it so hard to believe that this animated short isn't better known. It's really well-done, and it's lovely in its simplicity. It's hard to describe, because it's not all that widely distributed, so I haven't seen it too much. But it's basically an animation of the song "The Cat Came Back". Anyway, if you ever have the chance to see this little bit of animation, do so. It's extremely enjoyable!
