Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
tishco The only redeeming factor of this movie is the guy who plays Ashton. There is no mention of some of her greatest movies. There is no mention of the guy she was engaged to. There is no mention of the band she was singer in. There is no mention of all the movies she was doing voice over for, while apparently battling drug addiction forced on by a creepy looking husband, that didn't look a thing like the real husband. All in all, the only facts were the dates and even those were so general you couldn't follow the story line.It was so sad when we lost this bright star and the movie should have done her honour. Instead it looks like it was put on by kindergarden kids with access to a trunk of old wigs and trash bag of rags and cast offs.Sherilyn Finn played a great mommy dearest and the fact that they didn't make her go to the emergency room, that they didn't know CPR (even though they were doing it on a breathing talking husband when he had a heart attack) and stuck her under a shower? when she had apparently arrested. Did they think she had overdosed? A very Hollyweird response to drug overdose. All together, you can listen to it like an old radio play but don't try and watch it. They couldn't even get a blonde to play Alicia in Clueless, she has a mop on her head.Bad, bad, bad. Did I say bad?
infernal-eternal What a disgrace. This movie might be all right if it had no connection to any real people (though it would still be a poor one), but as a biography of Brittany Murphy it's almost unwatchable. Everything is bad. What's with the choice of actress? She doesn't look anything like Brittany, she doesn't act like her, she has no charisma (which Brittany had plenty of)... What's going on? Some other characters in the movie look and act more like Brittany than Amanda Fuller does. Chloë Crampton who plays her friend would have been a better choice. Watching that round face, I had to constantly remind myself who it's supposed to represent because there was just no resemblance.I don't really know anything about Brittany's real life, but I really doubt she was this lame when in the movies she was so cool. It just doesn't add up. I feel like Amanda Fuller has never even seen any of Brittany's movies.Acting is overall pretty bad. A biography of a famous person should not be a B movie with poor actors. The movie completely fails to build up atmosphere for emotional scenes, so they just end up looking artificial and ridiculous. Crappy, boring music doesn't help either. Everything feels fake. Cheap melodrama.A girl with a really bad wig representing Alicia Silverstone wasn't even funny.Brittany's biography deserves a decent script and cast. This is just a bad joke.
handsomedevil1988-104-540273 Shame on the director and the writer , they didn't even mention 8 miles in the movie nor picked an actress who even slightly resembles Brittany . Brittany wasn't chubby or that ordinary looking , she was pretty and charismatic with a nice smile . Couldn't the director at least pick a decent looking blonde or something ??!! , no he made the effort to find an actor who looked like Ashton Kutcher and forgot about the leading character . Amanda Fuller lacked performance and looks on that movie about a very special talent that the cinema lost . The whole movie lacked excitement , it was supposed to be one of them movies that moves you or touches you but for me that never happened . Movies about biography should be written and directed very carefully and honesty to deliver for the audience the real story with all its feelings and emotions . Disappointing !!!
tenore65 I am a 68 year old Italian male, and I was a huge fan of Brittany Murphy. The first time I saw her was in "The Sidewalks of New York." It was a lovely New York City slice of life type story. I loved everyone in the movie, and I loved the story lines. Brittany, in my estimation, stole the show. She was so talented and so beautiful, yet had the look of the proverbial girl next door that you would love to hang out with and chew the fat. But I must say that I look more like Brittany Murphy than Amanda Fuller -- fat, untalented, with a double chin and baby fat that made her look bloated. That, and she couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. What was Lifetime thinking? I usually love Lifetime movies. I love "chick flicks," so pardon me if I'm gay. I can understand that when portraying famous people, there is usually a stretch in finding someone with all the looks and qualities of the subject matter. But this girl looked and acted nothing like Brittany. Poor Brittany would turn over in her grave. Are all young, blonde, talented actresses dead or involved in other projects? I was a HUGE Brittany fan, and this is nothing more or less than a disgrace. I just can't understand this bomb. And Eric Petersen as her love interest? Did anyone else think he looked a lot like Miss Piggie?
