Reviews
Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Protraph Lack of good storyline.
ChicRawIdol A brilliant film that helped define a genre
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
suite92 Cinematography: 8/10 Mostly well-lit and in good focus, with reasonable framing. Occasionally, a vignette filter was used, which I could have done without.Sound: 8/10, good but not the best. In several passages the spoken word seemed hollow.Acting: 6/10 John Savage gave the performance I expected. I'd seen Elisabeth Moss in Mad Men and Top of the Lake, and this performance was not nearly as good. Elisabeth Moss is the center of the piece, so the whole movie seemed awkward. Tom Malloy gave a competent performance as the brain damaged brother.Screenplay: 6/10 Emma's refusals to cooperate with the police resulted in no consequences. Horror films, and also psychological thrillers, are all about consequences, so this struck me as mighty unlikely. That her family would allow her self-destructive behavior to continue was hard to believe.
elliott78212 Elizabeth Moss delivers a performance that while uneven manages to capture your attention. The pacing of the film at times is a bit slow thanks to director Mary Lambert, at the same time she manages to use some interesting elements adding to the mood of the film. Made on a shoe string budget all in all I thing everyone but attempted to make the best of it all sadly John Savage a veteran low budget actor just phoned it in if you catch this like I did for free online you won't be disappointed, yes there are some uneven and poor performances yet it tries to rise above itself and though not completely successful still manages to bring you along for the ride. Enjoy
raya g If i could give this movie no starts i would. The entire movie was pointless, the beginning made no sense at all. It started with a random girl (5mins of fame) who heard something in the hallway then went to the attic ad saw a girl who looked just like her, she ran outside and fell (typical) then when she looked up the girl was standing in front of her and then out of nowhere she just started shaking like she was retarded. Final the main character comes in and she hears something in the attic and sees a girl who looks just like her. Later in the movie we find out its her twin who died 12 days after she was born and only had half a brain or something. This is were the entire beginning was pointless, how would the dead twin know that her twin was going to move into the house later on? Why did the dead twin look like the girl in the beginning if she was the twin of the second girl? If the dead twin died 12 days after she was born, why was she full grown and haunting her sister? Pointless!!! The acting was bad. The words they were saying didn't match facial expressions. There was one part in the movie when the girl seen the dead twin in the window, so literally the alive twin slammed her head into the stove or counter top and fell and was unconscious, i laughed my butt off, i showed my bf and my bff and we were all laughing so hard. I guess she was posed to be surprised, but it looked like she slammed her head down intentionally lol!!! All in all movie sucked! I watched it b/c it was actually entertaining i laughed thru the bad acting and terrible graphics of the shooting her dad in the head and her mother, also the slitting her brothers throat was pretty bad as well! I hope you guys enjoy the movie more then me, it was bad!!!
KelRen25 If you have high expectations for a low-budget horror film, then you're pretty ignorant. But many of the people posting that "it's the worst movie I've ever seen" or "I'd rather (fill-in-the- blank) than watch this movie" probably haven't seen REALLY bad horror movies (Cheerleader Massacre and Troll 2 come to mind). That being said, this movie certainly ISN'T good. The story is all over the place. I've seen better story structure and continuity in a seventh-grader's English paper. Elizabeth Moss actually does a good job for what she has to work with. The actor who plays her brother was decent as well. All the other actors were terrible. My main beef with this movie was the story itself meandering around and not making any sense. 2 out 10.
