Reviews
GarnettTeenage The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.
Ogosmith Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Gary The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
dbdumonteil G.J.ARNAUD was a rather famous fantasy and horror writer ,whose stories were often adapted as comic strips in the sixties/seventies .It seems he fell into oblivion since so it's nice to read his name in the credits of a movie:one should remark that his original title "Enfantasme" (pun made of "child" and "phantasm") is much better than the title of the movie (White sleep).A woman has lost her only child and cannot get over it.One day ,a teenager comes to her isolated house near a beautiful lake ;he might be a runaway from a reform school ;but didn't those boys get drowned in the lake? So who might he be?Nobody sees him but her.Her husband wants to move but she is not in a hurry to leave this place ,on the contrary she is attracted by something that eludes her.An offbeat work ,a bit déjà vu ,but if it urged the screenwriters to look on Arnaud's side, the director would not have been wasting time.
GUENOT PHILIPPE This could have been a Saturday night TV movie on France 3 - french channel. It takes place in the deep France, in the mountain, in the snow. A couple who lives in an isolated country cottage decide to move to the city, for professionnal reasons. But the things don't go as scheduled. The wife is disturbed by a hidden secret. The setting is of course an actor in this atmospheric movie. It contributes a lot in the suspense. When the woman meets a teenager who walks on the road, in the middle of nowhere, in the snow, the story really begins. This feature is inspired by a G J Arnaud novel: ENFANTASME. A typically Arnaud story who, as the other books of this writer, talks about isolation, loneliness and struggle of the lead - often women, strong women - against the hostile surroundings. City, big scale building or deep country side. But it remains only a fair product. The screenplay could have been a little more faithful to the novel. You can see it if you want. that's up to you.
