While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Freeman
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Shelter is a classic action movie : there is a lot of shooting, explosions and some bloodshed. I think that some violent scenes were not really necessary, but nevertheless I like this movie. It is produced well and it's just exciting to watch. The plot contains some good ideas which distinguishes it from other movies of this genre. John Allen Nelson as ATF Agent Martin Roberts is completely convincing and also Brenda Bakke as Helena does a good job. All in all the movie is worth the money, go watch it!

"Shelter" is a very mediocre B-flick which tells of an ATF agent in Arkansas who hides out with a Greek mafia gun runner when he learns his own people are corrupt. Sound implausible?? Well, it's no more implausible than the cars which explode like 100 gallons of napalm or the firefights were the handgun wins out over the automatic rifles, etc...all stuff we've seen before. "Shelter" offers some shootouts, some rolling action, some stunts, some pyro, and not much sex all held together with an unlikely story and an attempt to make the film better with some good camera work, sets, lighting, etc. A mediocre watch for action junkies only.

This film is now circulating on cable, so there ought to be a comment for the guidance of viewers. Let's see---how can movies of this genre be distinguished from one another?Well, this one has the following features which infrequently occur in the genre: *The Arkansas Greek Mafia, *Two women kissing, *A chain-saw in a guitar-case, *Brenda Bakke's Belly Button, *An underwater clip-reload, *A grown-up who puts on his baseball glove to go to the living room to watch the game on TV, *A chair with a baboon pattern on the upholstery fabric.
