Leofwine_draca ON THE WRONG TRACK is one of the juvenile delinquency films that were all the rage in the early 1980s, and perhaps a response to Tsui Hark's shocking DANGEROUS ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIRST KIND. It was shot by Shaw and is notable for featuring a youthful Andy Lau in his first lead role in a movie. Lau plays one of two brothers who get involved in gang conflict and violence, ending up in a downward spiral that can only lead to one thing. This story has the usual exemplary Shaw Brothers production values and a handful of slow motion car crash stunts that action lovers will enjoy. Otherwise, it's an intense character drama with lots of melodramatic scenes as Lau ends up alienating his friends, family, and love interests. Martial arts veteran Yueh Hua plays Lau's cop dad who isn't too impressed with his son's lifestyle choices.
