Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
morfetic Is it King Kong? Was it Kongenstein? Or the son of Tarzan and Cheetah?! Really a case of difficult resolution, but the problem is that this beastly creature is brutally murdering innocent victims in the town. A nice way to start a script for a horror movie, huh? Certainly! And leaving our 'lovely' main character aside, the film still provides us with scenes of pet theft, clandestine medicine, wrestling, more violence and goretits, that is, it contains all the necessary prerequisites for a genuine work of terror and I believe at that time many hairs were standing - and of course some girls were traumatized forever when they leave the bath! Surely this story would have the potential to stamp the cover of a Tales from the Crypt magazine and going further, the subtlety of this plot goes so far as to refer us to the tale of our supreme genius of horror Edgar Allan Poe "The Murders in the Rue Morgue", really, that was a shot of genius! Finally, it's a movie that will please true horror fans who do not care for certain frills, those who prefer pomp, hi-tech and empty ideas of ostentation... Yoohoo!! Neymar awaits you in the xXx!! Bleeeerrrrggghh ..."Depth is in the valleys where we seek it, not at the top of the mountains where it is sighted." - Auguste Dupin
Scott LeBrun Girls, gore, and a gorilla mix in this deliciously demented schlock flick from two legends of Mexican exploitation: Rene Cardona and Rene Cardona Jr., who co-wrote the script as a remake of Cardona Srs' "Doctor of Doom". Cardona directs the nasty nonsense with flair, giving us a scenario in which lady wrestlers, real life open heart surgery footage, in your face gruesomeness, and the requisite T & A all combine.Jose Elias Moreno gives his all to the role of doctor & mad scientist Dr. Krallman. Krallmans' son Julio (Agustin Martinez Solares) is very sick with leukemia and the foolish doc will do ANYTHING to save the life of his son. In the tradition of Dr. Frankenstein characters everywhere, Krallman hits upon what he thinks is a genius idea. Give his son a gorilla heart! Yes, you read that correctly. Unfortunately, the surgery regularly turns Julio into a raving beast (Gerardo Zepeda), who goes about molesting women and murdering both males and females with amusing regularity.Krallman hits upon an even *more* genius idea in the later parts of the film, but I'll leave you to discover that on your own."Night of the Bloody Apes" truly lives up to that time honoured phrase of being "so bad it's good". It adds to its engagingly ridiculous premise with a fair amount of energy and a decent forward pace. The makeup is passable and does serve its purpose. The film is so damn exploitative that it's likely to keep schlock addicts smiling. The acting is perfectly serviceable for this sort of thing, with Armando Silvestre as our dashing, intrepid detective on the case, Carlos Lopez Moctezuma as the scarred, loyal assistant to our antagonist, and Norma Lazareno as the luchador dating the hero.Even in light of how silly the movie is, it does manage to be absurdly touching in its final moments.Seven out of 10.
Tromafreak One would assume that a 60's gore-fest, with the words "bloody" and "apes" in the title, which also features a sub-plot involving women's wrestling, would be at least mildly entertaining. Not so. Not even a little. I hate it when this happens. With a rad little title such as Night Of The Bloody Apes, it's all a gore-hound can do is have high expectations. But then it hits me... Oh yeah!! Mexican B-Horror. You see, no one is to blame for my boredom but me. I was well aware how terribly dull low-budget Horror is from down there. Believe me. This won't happen again. But now that I've started this review, I guess you expect me to keep on typing a while longer, so I can tell you about it... *SIGH* Alright, fine...There seems to be a lot of this "transplant Horror" from this era, and the decade before. I can't remember ever being this bored by one of these. About a Surgeon desperately trying to save his ailing son, Julio's life by replacing his bum ticker with that of an orangutan. And don't forget the routine, surgery, stock-footage. Not bad. And of course, Julio now turns into a Gorilla-person. Doing only what a Gorilla-person would do. Julio goes on rampages, ripping women's clothes off, and perform random acts of brutality. Not to worry, as he doesn't stay like that. It's kind of an on and off thing, like a werewolf, I guess... Oh yeah!! And there's also chicks rasslin'. A quality which seems to serve no purpose. No tie-in to the main story or anything. Or maybe that is the main story. Who knows? I know what you're thinking, but trust me, it's not nearly as good as it sounds. absolutely all of this manages to come off completely flavorless. It really is a shame. A total waste of an awesome title. Dare I say it's even worse than Cheerleader Autopsy. The son of the guy that directed this bloody letdown, would go on to make a movie about killer cats, entitled Blood Feast. That's right. Blood Feast. As far as the one about the Apes goes, my advice to you would be to forget you ever heard of this lousy flick, and its glamorous title, and spend your money on something worthwhile like Brain Of Blood, or TeenApe Goes To Camp. At the very least, Night Of The Bloody Apes had a choice to give us some "so bad it's good" humor. It couldn't even give us that. Shame on you, Bloody Apes 3/10
haildevilman An incredibly successful combo of the Mexican 'Lucha Libre' genre with 70's style horror. And a dash of 'Mad Scientist' cliché's tossed in for spice. The original Mexican title was 'Horror y Sexo.' Tell me it doesn't fit perfectly.Great chase scenes. The gorillaman's make-up was horrible in both senses of the word. It ended at the neck. But it WAS ugly. And like a lot of classic horror films, it did make you nervous during the night scenes. The Mondo style heart surgery footage was a tinge gross. It didn't hurt the film, it didn't help either.Graphic (and I do mean GRAPHIC) violence will put some of you off. But I still liked it.
