Reviews
Ploydsge just watch it!
Sameeha Pugh It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
Mehdi Hoffman There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Simon Rodgers This is quite a good little animation. It has very high quality too, it is quite surprising when you think about it as it feels a lot more modern. One does not think of 1966 when they see an animation of this high calibre.Mr Rossi finds it really difficult to get by without a car and the whole city is littered with them. Suddenly he sees an advert for a car stockist and falls in love with the idea of buying a car. He goes and gets all the required documents including health check and buys the car and away he goes. Please remember that this is just a cartoon and totally unreal. It is very good fun to watch though. Needless to say that a few inadvisable things occur and could be very dangerous. Maybe children should not watch this until they are old enough to understand why this is so, mind you all children are different and I'm sure most of them will take it with a pinch of salt anyway.A few short films of Mr Rossi of this nature were made before they finally made a few feature length films of this character. The feature length films contained spoken dialogue whereas these shorts did not.The title of this short is shown at the start in four languages, Italian, English, French and German. There is no shadow of a doubt that these shorts where designed for international enjoyment. With no spoken dialogue, there is of course, no need to worry about translations (be in in the form of subtitles or dubbing). These shorts are also the same sort of humour and style as The Pink Pather ones used to be, only a little more rational, Meaning that things COULD really happen in the Mr Rossi cartoons, although such chances are quite rare.I can't help but feel that Mr Rossi has been left to be forgotten about because these cartoons are Italian and not British or American. While such material has been released on DVD for German and Italian markets, I'm very sorry to say that such material does seem quite scarce for other country's markets. I do know a few VHS tapes were released in the USA, but these are long deleted.I wouldn't mind recommending the feature films but they are just not as good as the shorts. They also go a bit deeper into the world of the absurd.I would recommend the whole Mr Rossi shorts to everyone. No bad material just nice clean innocent fun, just like when we were much younger.
