Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
WillSushyMedia This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
Salubfoto It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
Leofwine_draca ONE OF OUR OWN is another in the string of JACK REED TV cop movies made in the 1990s. This one sees Brian Dennehy giving a good turn as the dedicated hero, gunning for the bad guys who are responsible for the death of his youthful partner. The plot sees a young woman left for dead in a shocking shotgun attack, only to survive and be taken in by Dennehy and his family while he searches for the perpetrators.ONE OF OUR OWN doesn't have a great deal of mystery content but it keeps you watching regardless with a mix of mystery and comedy. The humour from Dennehy's family members is really growing on me as are the characters, and Charles S. Dutton is a quiet delight too. The more violent aspects of the story are handled well and if the chief villains are a bit lacklustre, Dennehy's larger-than-life lead more than makes up for them.
laurelp52 Brian Dennehy with Charles Dutton are a great team in these movies. Good mysteries. Gritty and heart warming at the same time because of the characters. Susan Ruttan is wonderful as Character Jack Reed's wife. Love the humor, the drama the honesty. So far I have only been able to watch 3 in the series of movies, but looking forward to seeing the others! 1992: Deadly Matrimony directed by John Korty 1993: Jack Reed: Badge of Honor directed by Kevin Connor 1994: Jack Reed: A Search for Justice directed by Brian Dennehy 1995: Jack Reed: One of Our Own directed by Brian Dennehy 1996: Jack Reed: A Killer Among Us directed by Brian Dennehy 1996: Jack Reed: Death and Vengeance directed by Brian Dennehy
Prismark10 Brian Dennehy has becomes director, star and co-writer of the Jack Reed series. His partner of just a few months is killed while trying to protect a lovely redhead. The redhead is now living in protection with Reed's family. In the meantime the killing might be linked to some shady politicians and judges.Dennehy enjoys playing the no nonsense cop, so though all the bad guys just simply confess. Reed is also now more matey with Michael Talbott where previously they were more at odds. The story here has more substance and having seen other Jack Reed films, this was one of the better ones, although its not saying much as a few of the later movies are frankly poor.
Comeuppance Reviews This comment contains mild spoilers!!! "Jack Reed: One Of Our Own" is an entertaining mystery.Brian Dennehy plays the title character. His partner is killed and he's looking for the killers. He realizes that the criminals are not just killing for fun, but ordered to by someone in politics. Can Jack figure it out? Brian Dennehy also directs this film and does a good job. His performance as usual is on target. Charles S. Dutton basically stands around. The only problem I had with the film is that it's too short. Don't be fooled by the two-hour runtime, It's only 85 minutes. If you like Brian Dennehy, you'll bound to enjoy these films: "Rising Son", "Deadly Matrimony", and "Teamster Boss".For more insanity, please visit: comeuppancereviews.com
