Breakinger A Brilliant Conflict

Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

Anish Misra Ittefaq is a film directed by Yash Chopra. The film caught my attention as a remake was being produced in 2017 of the same name. Researching the film, I decided that I had to watch it. And after watching it I can say that I liked the film a lot.Plot: Dilip Roy seeks shelter in Rekha's house after escaping a mental asylum. But Rekha too has secrets of her own.Story and direction: The film being a remake comes as no surprise to me. But still for pulling of this kind of film requires guts. Releasing in an era where romance dominated and films had songs that were hummable is quite a challenge. But this film stood by every means. We get greatly woven characters and story. Which is what anyone wants in a film. You care for each and very character that is present on the screen. I remember being on the edge of the seat every minute. Being 105 minutes, the film utilized mostly every minute. And the editing is so great. It feels like the film took place in one shot. But this film has its share of flaws. Somewhere after 40 minutes have passed, the next 20 minutes have nothing much to offer. I felt bores during that time. But then the film gets a rise and again my interest for the film piqued. The background score wasn't much interesting too. It employed some strange sounds and music which was just noise to my years. Considering Salil Choudhary's calibre that wasn't expected.Performances: Nanda was impressed. Her variations in her character clearly reflected in her acting. Rajesh Khanna again proved no matter what the role he can master it. Iftekhar and Bindu too provided some great support. Sujit Kumar was good too.Favorite Scene: The scene where Dilip tells Rekha that we can live together in this world without any anger or hate. The way in which Rajesh Khanna said the dialogue and the setting made me attract towars this scene.Verdict: Although with a few hiccups. Ittefaq is quite a decent watch. Considering the time in which it was made it is quite good. Yash Chopra still proved that why we still consider him as one of the great directors.I am going with an 8.5/10.

silvan-desouza Before BHOOT(2003) and some RGV films like Sarkar, BR films' ITTEFAQ was released which had no songs, no romance in it. The film is very hatke, Produced by BR Films who wanted to make a quickie as their big budget film was shelved and must say it paid off as the film did quite well In the days when films were known for their song and dance such a film was rare The film is a remake of SIGNPOST OF MURDER but it's well handled, The film starts directly to the point, with Rajesh Khanna blamed for his wife's murder and sent to mental assylm and keeps you on the edge. The twists and turns keep you guessing and it's well handled. The final revelation too is simply superbDirection by Yash Chopra is splendid, Background Music is goodRajesh Khanna is superb in his role, this film was in making before his ARADHANA shot to stardom and he does a good job, though at times he hams Nanda is superb too, Iftekar is as usual, Bindu is okay Shammi has one scene and is okay, Sujit Kumar is good rest are okayThe film is only 1 hour 45 minutes long and it's a pleasure to watch

shiva-maharjan This movie can be regarded as suspense and thriller.I liked this movie very much when I watched it about 15 years ago on television.I think to some extend the story is based on the episode "Fog Closing In" of the TV serial Alfred Hitchcock presents.But in case of Hindi movies at that time this story was fresh and thriller.The actor of this movie rajesh kahanna did excellent job as the accused murderer of wife and also nanda's acting was also superb.I think this sort of thriller and suspense movie should be made in bollywood if they want to make good thriller movie.The direction by yash chopra is also superb.If you get chance to watch this movie please don't miss.My vote is 8 out of 10 for this movie.

sanjay0864 Ittefaq was a successful and yet, for several reasons, was a bold experiment in Indian cinema. First and foremost for the fact it had no songs, secondly for the theme of the film, thirdly for portraying a leading character in the film as a negative one, fourthly it was a film totally different from what normally Rajesh Khanna or Yash Chopra used to do. Rajesh Khanna puts in an excellent acting performance in the role of a man accused of murdering his wife and on the run from the law for it. Yash Chopra (director) handles the film brilliantly and the viewer is kept on the edge and guessing right thru to the end. A must see for all lovers of Good Indian Cinema. (Hmmm Good Indian Cinema sound like a misnomer in today's Bollywood)
