Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

Griffin Drew & Lisa Boyle - post silicone. Raelyn Saalman and Shauna O'Brien pre-silicone.Griffin and Shauna look fabulous and they share a tender scene together in the bathtub that looks so real. The lighting, the pace, and everything is just perfect. Griffin has a few early scenes including a fantasy scene and one with her husband. But she leaves part way thru the movie and Shauna takes over, shagging anything that moves - including the husband. The only one she doesn't seduce is Lisa Boyle's character. Instead they play dress-up. Lisa's scenes usually involve shady boyfriends and don't seem as hot as the other scenes.Shauna is amazingly hot in this movie and it's too bad she's since ruined her look with balloon implants. Oh well, at least we can remember her natural beauty with this movie.

One of the better examples of soft-core in the 90's. Yes the acting wasn't the greatest, but the plot was at least decent. The nude/sex scenes were good, particularly the bathtub scene. But there was some exhibition of my pet peeve. Congratulations to Shauna O'Brien and Raelyn Saalman for forgoing, and shame on Griffin Drew and Lisa Boyle/Cassandra Leigh for indulging in mass quantities of silicone. Why does anyone think that huge mounds of gel are more attractive than a woman's natural breasts? Gals, ... They're not! This is why 70's soft-core films are usually so much better than modern ones. The silicone show is distracting and ugly. As for FOTF, It's worth a look. Grade: B-

Edward Herman movie features a decent story line involving a disfunctional family caught up in the non-communication syndrome common to families where the husband has re-married to a younger woman who is rejected by the teenage daughter. A bit over played and under acted but saved by the sage advice (and liberal sexuality) of the "heroine", Elke played convincingly by the enticing Shauna O'Brien. Griffen Drew is delectable as Linda, the put-upon new wife, while Lisa Boyle is her usual vixen-like self as the rejecting daughter. The sex scenes are tasteful and erotic but lack emotion and passion, as is so often the case in this genre of soft core films. Still the morale fiber is kind of unique and the ending holds a bit of interest as everything comes together and the future looks considerably brighter for all concerned.

A Friend of the Family has amazingly quite a bit to offer for a b-movie. The important being sex and nudity. But hey, the acting is actually very tolerable. The ladies (Lisa Boyle, Shauna O'brien and Griffen Drew) are amazing to look at with better than average sex and nudity scenes. The dialogue could be better, but then quality dialogue was not high on my reasons for renting this movie. This is a very worthwhile rental.
