Reviews
Libramedi Intense, gripping, stylish and poignant
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
bob_sareen Director and famous cinematographer Manmohan Singh is back once again with a super duper hit Dil Apna Punjabi, the movie is a delight to watch and something that everyone can relate to. The movie stars some of the biggest names in Punjabi Cinmea Harbhajan Mann as main actor, Neeru Bajwa, Deep Dhillion, Kawaljit, Amar Noori, Dara Singh and Mehek chahal. The film takes a look at the village life, a joint family consisting grandfather(Dara Singh) who is the head of the family and then we have the grandson Kanwal(Harbhajan Mann) who spends most of his time with his friends basically doing nothing. Kanwals father is really against that as he wants his son to become achieve something in life. Kanwal is love with Laddi( Neeru Bajwa), they both meet at their Bhabis house(Aman Norri). Kanwal and Laddi convince Bhabi to take the proposal of their mirrage to Laddis family and making it seem as a arrange marriage rather than love marriage. When the both familes do meet things don't work the way the both lovers have planned as Kanwal doesn't know what he wants to accomplish with life and due to that Laddis father rejects the proposal and both are heart broken. Then Love and fate forces Kanwal to come to UK and he would go back only if he has something accomplished in life to win Laddis family. While in UK, Lisa(Mahek Chahal),a U.K. youth icon, comes into his life. Lisa also falls for Kanwal as well, she admires how he approches life with simplicity. When Lisa expresses her feeling to Kanwal will he choose her or will go back to Laddi, is for u to watch and find out. Performance wise Gurpreet Ghuggi is the scene stealer, I can honestly say this is one of his greatest performances ever and definitely the best , he was outstanding in the scene when he comes to Kanwals house, its bound to bring the house down. Harbhajan Mann is OK , but he doesn't suit the role of the college boy, and looks way too old, Jimmy Shergill would have been the idle choice and his dialogue delivery is terrible. he needs to polish up his acting, Neeru Bajwa has more footage then Mahek, she was also really good and convincing. Mehek Chahal doesn't come after the interval, she does excellent in the scenes she does have and her chemistry with Harbhajan Mann is mindblowing. Dara Singh does well as well, Deep Dhillion as the father does make a impact, Kawaljit doesn't have much to do and Aman Noori is good as well. overall this film is rich in emotions and is one of the better family dramas made in India, families should love it. More punjabi films should be made like these, so rent the DVD today!!!
