Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Dead Country is about a alien that lands on earth and spreads a deadly virus that turns the town of Romero (get it). The only thing of note about this film is the genre names associated to this. William Malone, Ted V. Mikels, Lloyd Kaufman and Lisa Wilcox. There really is no plot to speak of, just a lot of unrelated scenes. So that people can say that they have had some screen time. One thing that was really irritating was the fact that there were vast swathes of this film with no dialogue. Now I do not mean that this was silent film. In a lot of sections there is background music and incidental sounds coming from the speakers. The characters are actually talking, but not sound can be heard. It was like the film makers did not have time to post sync the dubbing onto the completed film. This is not a problem throughout all of the film, so why just a large portion? There is some gore, but really not enough to warrant a view.

No Budget. No Plot. No gore. No suspense. No Comedy. No point. This 'movie' is really nothing more than a 75 minute collection of the directors friends appearing on camera for no other reason than to have their name attached to a movie.I watch many zombie movies, most of which have a budget of a high school party weekend (at best) and while those are bad.. this is worse. There is no plot at all. The movie basically is a collection of scenes of actors/actresses that simply are thrown into the movie for no purpose other then to have a scene in the movie.Basically take random scenes from random (extremely)low budget zombie flicks put them together and you have this movie. If there is anything that can be said to be tolerable with this 'movie' it is that the director tried to keep it interesting with the occasional breast show or otherwise scantily clad woman scene. But it isn't even close to worth it.If you are contemplating watching this, take a look at my watched movie list - http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=37512911 - and you will see 130+ zombie movies and this one is possibly the very worst of all the ones I've seen.Save yourself the 75 minutes... seriously.
