This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

"Cupid and Psyche" is a 30-second short film from the very very early days of cinema. it is black-and-white, silent and soon has its 120th anniversary. I must say that i never would have recognized who these characters are without the title telling us. A young woman and girl play the famous duo in here. Basically they are just dancing, while a great audience is watching, so it seems to have been quite a spectacular event. I think they joy of the woman is a bit contagious, but still, there is nothing really memorable about this very short movie. I would say it's not among the worst films of the 19th century, but not among the best either.

Cupid and Psyche (1897) Innocent Edison film has a couple young girls dancing. One, in wings, is suppose to be Cupid with the other one, I'm guessing, just your typical girl of the era. This film only runs 27-seconds and it's yet another one where we see nothing more than dancing. It's pretty funny to see how many movies from this era just show people dancing. Several are a lot more famous than this one but this here still cute enough to view. There are at least a hundred people in the background watching so it's interesting to see what all they're wearing and it's pretty clear that this type of thing could draw good crowds back in the day.
