Reviews
MamaGravity good back-story, and good acting
Lancoor A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Allissa .Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
pd1306 I have one nagging question here that really bugs me (pun intended). The president actually received an injection of the ebola virus when he ws shot. But the nurse and the secretary of state just got minute contact e.g. touching the wound and the needle. So how come they both died yet the president apart from looking a little grey - oh and his eyes were not so good at one point - he NEVER got really ill. He was so well in fact that he got dressed!!. whilst 2 staff nearby died!!. what a guy! and as for the horrible child who happened to be in Rwanda with his parents then ending up in the VERY SAME HOSPITAL and he also happened to be a specialist in wandering around air ducts! the worst movie ever made for sure!
sixda The movie "Contagion" was better than I thought it would be. At first before the movie started I had the feeling it would be cheesy like a horrible Sci-Fi movie. The quality of acting in this movie was not of the best of quality, the only actor's face who I knew was the dad's from the television series "Wonder Years." The actors did not say their lines with the "realness" that they should have. There were a lot of holes in the movie, for example with the president's family. They didn't exactly speculate what happened with his wife and they talked a lot about the son, but we never saw him or heard anything about him. The believability of the storyline was alright with the virus spreading through the hospital by it being airborne made somewhat sense. The ending was annoying, first with her cutting only one of the straps on the tunnel and it expanding and then when she made the last second phone call. All in all this is a movie that you watch during a boring weekend to go to sleep.
Kiron James The acting in Contagion was not top notch but it was above any other made for TV movies I have seen recently. It was a shame to see such good actors given such a bad script, full of clichés. Every turn the movie took was expected with the exception of the final showdown between the villain and the heroine (but only because it was so ridiculous that no one would have ever expected it). As for the science in the movie, it was surprising that Dr. Landis had such a tolerance to the chemical bath she took her suit off in. The fact that she took off her suit in the first 10 seconds of it really didn't make it hard to see she was going to catch Ebola as well. The script writer obviously just googled a lot of the science and picked what he thought would look cool or sound good. I remember at one point the head bodyguard was touching the tip of the dart and he did not catch Ebola; come on! The other really big problem the movie had was coincidence. The movie was full of it. Wow, we are lucky the best virologist was so close. Wow you went to Rwanda and you got sick. Good thing there was an extra springing tube lying around on the roof. Man am I lucky I remembered my scalpel. Need I say more? Finally, the ending was plain horrible. This is definitely what kept this movie out of theatres. The producer that thought a giant spring knocking the villain off the roof should have all his or her money taken away. The idea is simply dumbfounding. Slinkys don't kill people!!!
cooney42 The story of the movie was not really to bad, something like that could possibly happen now or in the future. Some parts of the story were really kinda silly and didn't make much since. The story didn't flow as good as it could have. The acting was another really big part that kept the movie from being better than it was. Some of the actors actions were just not really believable and did some very odd things. This was another big factor that kept the flow of the movie from being as smooth as it could. Like I said the storyline was for the most part believable, but their were some holes in the story. Their were a lot of parts where they didn't go into enough detail so you really don't know whats going on. But overall I gave Contagion a rating of 4.
