Why so much hype?

Boring, long, and too preachy.

As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

"Blue" is an American 20-minute short film that soon has its 25th anniversary. It was written and directed by the then still very young filmmaker Don McKellar, who is active today also as an actor mostly. And he won a couple awards for this one. I cannot agree with the praise though. I found it story-wise and acting-wise a very forgettable watch. The nudity added zero in terms of the plot I felt and was certainly only included to get more people to watch this. The cast includes a handful actors you may have seen in other projects already, such as the late Tracy Wright, but the big star here is without a doubt David Cronenberg, who is/was also a much more prolific actor than most people know as he is of course especially known for his work behind the camera. But he does not add a lot here either. Nothing memorable about this little film. i give it a thumbs down.

Brilliant. New carpet factory footage intercut with old porn creates a brief but telling glimpse into the human psyche. You'll never look at a blueberry muffin the same way again.
