The Washington Star of April 1st, 1900, gave the following account of the ceremony: "Over 40,000 women and children passed through the White House Gates to-day during the hours set apart for the great National show of Egg Rolling, and when the President stepped on the south front gallery at 4:15 P.M., at least 20,000 were within the grounds. The Marine Band rendered a programme of popular music. The President's children entertained at least fifty young friends during the day with a view of the egg rolling from the balcony, but none of them mingled with the great throng, preferring to view the panorama from the distance. They were much amused with the antics of the great crowd of children, who were of all colors and from every walk of life."

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
Leoni Haney Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
Michael_Elliott Babies Rolling Eggs (1902) Edison film showing several kids rolling eggs in some sort of contest but a fight soon breaks out (I'm guessing staged) when the kids want to be on camera.Auto Boat Race on the Hudson (1904) Edison short with G.W. Bitzer on camera (apparently loaned out by Biograph) shows two speed boats racing down the Hudson. The most interesting thing about this film is how the technology then led to a pretty boring race as the camera tracking can never keep up with the boats, which leads to various edits in the action.Atlantic City Floral Parade (1904) Edison short once again showing a parade full of kids and adults.Bathing at Atlantic City (1901) Edison short shot on the boardwalk as we see hundreds of people bathing (ala swimming) in the Atlantic. Very good camera work for this time.Buffalo Fire Department in Action (1897) Edison short showing horses and buggies rushing into action. There are some terrific shots of the horses and firemen coming towards the camera.Buffalo Police on Parade (1897) Edison short showing the entire Buffalo, NY police in a parade. I guess this would have been a good time for someone to rob a bank.
