Nova Duarte Martinez is a Lesbian Filmmaker currently studying cinema at City College of San Francisco. Born in the Mat-Su Valley in Alaska to an a Brazilian Mother and a father who hitchhiked from New Jersey, she grew up very isolated, but was raised in a home where many stories were told and her imagination had room to flourish. Cinema always came back to her as the artistic medium which spoke to her the most. Her first truly professional film (shot with a cast, a full on crew, a great DP, etc...) La Lectura is inspired by her own experiences surrounding her queerness and pays tribute to her late Vovó. La Lectura is now looking for its place in film festivals in the Bay Area.
